Thank God it is Friday! Yesternight, millions of television viewers were treated to some mixed grill of music and comedy by the contesting bands of StarQuest, the premier talent hunt reality TV show, currently rocking the soul of the nation and beyond.
High point of the comedy show, that could easily go for an epic movie, was that a female vocalist in the house, brazenly blew the whistle on Band leader, Ikpeme. “When person go say no do, na dat time him go dey do?” she fumed as she reels out certain amorous moves by the band leader to get more intimate with her. “I say make him no pursue me, na lie”, she claimed as she went further to give unsubstantiated oral evidence against the band leader: “Under water, we dey find road to swim go, Ikpeme dey find woman leg when him go hold. Na im I shout.”
She alleged.
Also in her further evidence ‘in chief’, she proclaimed: “pass for road, Ikpeme go close here, close here. Him dey find who him go kiss”. She maintained as she burst into performing a melo-drama to demonstrate the acts. It was indeed laughable. “Authentic” Ikpeme may have been caught pants down although he puts up some acts to proclaim his innocence. Anyway, the case is now before the public court.
Back to the actual business of the day, the bands created their own songs and gave good account Performing them live on stage. They were however confronted with hard nuts to crack when a song was written and posted to each of the bands, through their female vocalists in six colourful bottles. It was titled “Beautiful People”. Care for the lyrics? Here it goes:
All this shine shine bo bo and pretty ladies
It is time for us to start the party
It is time to make everybody happy.
Come let your body feel the power of my beat
Can’t you feel my body heat?
Come and dance to my funky beat.
Can you shake something for me?
Can you do that thing for me?
Sisi me, break it down for me
Move dat thing nicely, nicely
The footnote instructed strictly that the bands arrange the lyrics to the music in any genre they think is suitable and use the stanza in which ever progression they desired. the bands were specifically reminded to use one of the stanza as a chorus. They were further warned not to “add or remove” any word from the lyrics. That indeed three the entire band into big confusion as they tried to get the song right and create appropriate tune and melody to rime with it.
Watch out what happen next and always remember to vote for your favorite band.
