One of these three bands- Da Heritage band, led by Christian Amagiya, Diamonds band, led by Anthony Iwediunor, led by Expozee band, led Emmanuel Aika could be on their to become the 2008 winner of Star Quest music talent hunt. These three bands would be presented to the public for their final votes as the exciting competition comes to an end on Saturday night. Their final performances would be broadcast live on national television networks – NTA, AIT, MBI, STV, Galaxy and G 65 as well as Hi Nolly on HITV.
The sun finally set for three of the six bands in the ongoing Star Quest early Thursday as viewers votes were not enough to keep them in the competition. Voting ended at exactly 1am and the bands evicted were B-Sixz, led by Godwin Okwi; Next led by Isaiah Okoh and Spectrum led by Daniel Ikpeme.
It was a long and very emotional night for the six bands as the minutes ticked closer to 1:00am when voting from the public was expected to end. It suddenly dawned on all the fame land occupants that their sojourn there could suddenly come to an end. As if planned to ease their tensed nerves, they were allowed for the first time in the house to watch their performances on television. So as they admonished viewers to vote for their bands during their performances on Wednesday night, they may have started sensing how the votes would go as the onscreen scroll messages gave a clear signal of the popular bands in the competition.

The battle for the last band standing, have been very fierce and fought in all fronts: The bands had engaged and challenged themselves in virtually every facet of music. They have been into song writing and composition, arrangements, scoring musical notes and creating different brands of music like Jazz, Naija flavour, rap, R&B, highlife, makossa, juju, fuji, and what have you. The bands even went as far as doing the remix of some works by popular Nigerian artistes and creating various genre of music for already made songs. At least, two University Dons, sat them down in the classroom to conduct first class orientation in basic rudiments of music, choreography and stage crafts, as well as engaged them in several exercises for physical fitness and flexibility of the body to enhance good performance as future stars and music ambassadors of Star Quest fame. The contestants, no doubt, have thrilled television viewers back home with lots of fun, comedy, music, suspense and excitement with their acts and deeds while in Star Fameland. The programme has been a must watch for millions of television viewers across Africa and music fans across the globe.
The winning band is expected to smile home with the following prizes: N5 million recording deal, N2.1 million cash, a mini-van, one year accommodation in a choice area of Lagos as well as automatic tickets to perform at this year’s Star Trek national concert tour, which kicks off soon after and the annual Star Mega Jam, the international music concert, which comes up at the end of the year.
All said and done the vote by viewers for their favourite bands would determine which band wins at the end of the day.
