The instruction to the bands was apt. It read as follows:

Close your eyes for a moment and imagine¦
Imagine a rich musical stew of traditional spices
Melodiously wafting through the air
Like the rich flavor of Mamas Sunday cooking.

Open your minds to create¦
Create harmonious lyrics that could last a lifetime
Rhythms that rhyme in mime
Drum beats that are the soul of our spirits.

Six by eight and eight by six
Sing we shall:
Dance, we will
To the sound of our native land.

That of course was the task, coming on Day 10 of the exciting reality talent discovery TV show -Star Quest. It was meant for the six contesting bands in the competition to create music- rich in Naija Flavour, and then come out bold and beautiful to perform it live on stage. Sounds like a tall order. Abi?

Expectedly, the bands squared up to the challenge. They move swiftly to compose and engage in rigorous rehearsals to come out in dazzling form.

Yes, it was strictly Naija, during the thrilling encounter that was perceived to be a real battle for supremacy when the bands exploded live on stage. Now, can you tell the outstanding band among the six? Simply text "Vote (the name of the band) and send to 32052". Interestingly, Aisha Malik, the damsel from Sokoto state- but born, bred and buttered in Lagos and vocalist with one of the contesting bands, was a year older yesterday. To mark the day, the house was treated to a big bash, courtesy of the nation's number one beer, Star. It was all fun and excitement as members of our band filed up with a big cake to our surprise chorusing the popular birthday song. The bash witnessed various free-styles solos by other vocalists in Fameland. She really had a happy birthday celebration.

Here is wishing the velvet voice singer a happy birthday and success in Star Fameland and her future endeavors. Big up!

Don't forget, vote for your favorite band.
